HORAS. Is a congratulation word in Mandailing. Also in Toba, Angkola, and almost in all of area in North Sumatra. In English we can say Hello, or Well come.
TOR TOR
TOR TOR is a dance in Batak. It is Very nice dance. Consist of 3 men and 3 women in dance. And I was a dancer of Tor Tor when I was in Elementary school.
GORDANG SAMBILAN
Gordang Sambilan is drum for culture consist of 9 drums. Many variations, since the small type, until the big one. The body is made from wood. And surface made from skin of animal such as goat. If we hear seriously, the sound will be very nice. Difficult to use without study. Because there are many systems to hit.
BAGAS GODANG
Bagas Godang is a house of king. Absolutely it is very large. There are many poles sustain this house. And the wall and floor are made by wood. The roof is made by palm fiber. In a top of the roof is sharp at the front, behind, also right and left side.
Who ever hear Toba Lake, the people who live around this area is Bataknese. I live around 300 kms from Toba Lake. The culture in my area also Batak too. The famous hero from Batak is Sisingamangaraja. He was very hate Netherland when he was aliving. And Netherland felt difficult to catch him. But when Netherland killed him, Bataknese become occupied by Netherland for years. And get Independent in 1945 . Batak is Indonesia.
